Website helps patients share their cancer stories

A new website designed to help Welsh patients’ share their own personal cancer stories will be officially unveiled next week (Thursday 25th November)

Storybank has been developed by the Cancer Genetics Service for Wales (CGSW) Research Team based at Cardiff University’s Institute of Medical Genetics and the University of Glamorgan’s Storyworks team.

Funded by cancer charity, Tenovus – the website contains a series of short videos designed to offer practical support to people worried that they may be at risk of cancer including: living with the possibility of inheriting cancer; compiling a family history; getting a cancer diagnosis and talking about cancer with your family.

By recording patients’ personal stories, it’s hoped the website will be used by current and future patients and the general public, as key source of information and support.

Patients featured in the videos will also be available to talk and be interviewed about their own stories.
