Cardiff International Academy of Voice graduate Jurgita Adamonyte has taken to the stage for the world premiere of a new work by best-selling composer Karl Jenkins.
Performing alongside the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Jurgita was one of two female soloists singing in Stabat Mater, the latest classical work by Welsh musician and Cardiff University music graduate Karl Jenkins.
The concert was held in Liverpool Cathedral and formed part of Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture celebrations. As well as performing at the premiere, Jurgita is also featured on the Stabat Mater CD.
Jurgita, who graduated in December 2007, was one of the first opera singers to embark on the programme of personalised voice training offered by the Academy when it first opened its doors.
The Academy is directed by world-renowned tenor Dennis O’Neill, and provides specialist voice training for exceptional opera singers from around the world. Through a series of masterclasses and workshops given by established names in the operatic world, the students are able to perfect their vocal techniques and fulfil their world performance potential.
In addition to her recent success, Jurgita has also been invited to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as a guest artist this autumn (2008).
