Health checks, sporting events, fitness classes, talks and workshops, tours of local places of interest, complementary therapies, craft activities, singing, adventure activities...These were just some of the events on offer during Positive Health and Environment Week (PHEW) 2012. Helen Harries who oversaw the initiative looks back at PHEW 2012.
"Our 4th Positive Health and Environment Week, took place over the fortnight 25th June to July. Members of staff were offered opportunities to try a huge range of activities relating to health, wellbeing and the environment. The packed programme contained 139 occurrences of over 80 different activities, taking place across all of the University campus and at other locations around Cardiff. Over 1000 members of staff took part.
"Some of the activities were run by private organisations and charities, but the majority were organised and facilitated by members of staff who volunteered their time and expertise, and by areas of the University who provide services related to health and wellbeing on a regular basis. To them all, huge thanks!
"We also greatly appreciate the time given by those who responded to the PHEW feedback survey which was open to all staff, whether or not they participated in any PHEW activities, in the month following the event. The outcomes of this feedback can be read in the PHEW 2012 Review at www.cardiff.ac.uk/phew , where you can also see a full details of all the activities and photos of some of them.
"If you would like to join the PHEW mailing list to ensure you are kept informed by direct email of any future PHEW events, please send a request to firstname.lastname@example.org ."
