Children's Literature Festival Cardiff
Cardiff University is a partner in the first ever Cardiff Children's Literature Festival which takes place between 20-24 March. There are events happening all around the city in a fantastic celebration of children’s books.
Your favourite authors and illustrators - and some you don't even know yet will be making their words and pictures come to life with tales of fantastical creatures, rugby zombies, amazing aliens and rainbow fairies. Come and meet singing mermaids, daring dragons, Groovy Greeks, cuddly bears and many more wonderful characters. There will be plenty of chances for you to get involved with writing and drawing too. Cardiff will be bursting with stories this March with something for everyone - just bring your imagination. For more information, and for a full list of events go to www.cardiffchildrenslitfest.com
Making the headlines: new Directory of Expertise
April will see the launch of the new Cardiff University Directory of Expertise – an online database designed to help the media establish direct contact for expert comment from academic staff.
Cardiff experts and academics are regularly in demand to comment in the news and media on topical issues and their own specific areas of research or knowledge. This new Directory of Expertise will be a comprehensive resource for journalists to access information and contact details for members of staff happy to speak to the media.
To sign up to this new directory fill in a quick form with your contact details and also an introduction about yourself, areas of research and expertise. It shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to fill in, and it is anticipated that the new Directory will go live in April.
Cardiff University staff can access the form here:
For any queries about the directory, contact Lisa Birkbeck, Public Relations on firstname.lastname@example.org or 02920 870 298
New CPD Toolkit launched
A new online professorial development resource exclusively for staff has been launched.
The CPD toolkit is available to all colleagues who wish to transfer their expertise to the business community through delivery of Continuing Professional Development.
The toolkit, which can be found online via www.cardiff.ac.uk/train/forstaff offers advice, guidance and an abundance of resources to help staff with the development of CPD activities. All you need to access the toolkit is your current University login.
The Cardiff University Professional Development Team developed the CPD toolkit to complement the existing support they are able to provide and to streamline the development of CPD within the University.
Users can also take advantage of a built in live chat facility if they have any queries that need answering immediately or they need some assistance using the site.
For more information, or to offer any feedback, please contact Katie McDermott, Development Officer on 029 2087 4638 or email email@example.com.
