Professor Sir Ivor Crewe, the Chair of a UK group charged with driving forward the career development of academic researchers will address a major conference at Cardiff's City Hall on the 24th November 2008.
Hosted and supported by research staff from across the University, the fourth annual research staff conference will provide a platform for the University to celebrate the signing of the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers. Sir Ivor Crewe, Master of University College Oxford and former President of Universities UK will provide the keynote address and outline the aims of this major new agreement signed between universities and research funders from across the UK.
Professor Terry Rees, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, who will address the conference, said: "Cardiff University is committed to developing and supporting its research staff. This conference will focus on the new Concordat which is a useful framework for the University in tailoring the way we support our research staff.
"Attendance at the Conference is an excellent way for researchers to ensure their views are heard by the University’s senior management and fed into the University’s plans for the implementation of the Concordat at the local level. We are extremely privileged that Sir Ivor is joining us on what should be an enjoyable and productive day."
Research staff interested in booking a place at the conference, can register at: www.cf.ac.uk/researchstaff.
