The University has partnered with London’s Southbank Centre to offer young people in Wales the opportunity to learn more about women and digital technology.
In a competition launched earlier the month the University is offering 25 individuals (aged between 18-30) the opportunity to attend the 2013 Women of the World Festival, held at the Southbank Centre, where they will discuss women and digital technology and learn about women’s achievements across the world.
Those selected will travel to the festival in March with a group of digital media mentors from Cardiff University and organisations across Wales. They will also contribute to the event programme by sharing their story on the festival’s blog.
After the event the individuals selected will be able to stay connected with those attending the festival by joining an informal mentoring network. The aim of the network is to offer people the opportunity share ideas and experiences as well attend seminars, events and talks.
Sandra Elliott, Director of Communications and International Relations said: "We’re delighted to be working with the Southbank Centre on this unique initiative.
"We hope that by offering young people across Wales the opportunity to learn more about digital technology and social media from those who have established successful careers in this area, that we can inspire future learning and development."
To be part of this, the first of a number of initiatives being launched by the University as part of its Digital and Social Media Strategy, individuals are asked to share their stories of what it means to be living in a world of digital.
Entrants should create a story or express their thoughts in a creative way about what it is like ‘Living in a World of Digital – Past, Present or Future’. Entries can be submitted in any creative digital format for example video, photography or blog post.
The closing date for entries is midnight on Friday 22nd February 2013.
