Get fit in 2013

If you haven’t heard of it, you’re not alone, but Bokwa, an exercise class inspired by South African dance is taking the UK by storm and is coming to a University gym near you. Steve Williams from Sport and Exercise tells us more.

"Bokwa is the latest fitness craze to hit the UK and was created by South African street dance Paul Mavi. Its name is a combination of two words ‘Bo’ representing light boxing and ‘Kwa’ the traditional South African dance Kwaito.

"We’ll be running Bokwa classes every Wednesday from 2.00pm – 2.45pm at the Strength and Conditioning Centre on Park Place. The class is available for people of all levels and is a fun workout that will help them build up their fitness and stamina, as well as their flexibility.

"The 2013 fitness timetable also includes indoor cycling, pilates, a Sunday super gym circuit and step aerobics. There are over 20 classes every week and they’re friendly, fun and easy to book - we’re sure there’s something to suit everyone."
