Cardiff students have paid tribute to staff for their innovation and dedication to enhancing their University experience.
Lecturers, tutors, receptionists and librarians were just some of more than two hundred staff members nominated for the first-ever Enriching Student Life Awards. The awards are an opportunity for students to give formal recognition to staff who have contributed to both their academic achievements as well as the overall student experience.
The Vice-Chancellor, Dr David Grant presented the winners with their awards, praising their continued commitment. He said: "These awards are an opportunity to celebrate the excellent work going on throughout the University both by our staff and students. The energy and dedication displayed by all those nominated is truly outstanding."
Staff from all of the University’s twenty seven academic schools were nominated as well as numerous members of support and technical staff.
Sarah Ingram, Academic and University Affairs Officer at the Students' Union who initiated the awards said: "I was amazed by the amount of nominations we had from students as well as the lengths that staff have gone to for their students and the gratitude that has come from those that have been nominated.
"These awards represent the importance of the role of staff in the student experience. Individuals can support and inspire students and that relationship can push someone to go further than they otherwise would. This is what makes higher education special and these awards give students the opportunity to say thank you."
