The free Building Futures exhibition showcases the work of the Centre for Research in the Built Environment and the Design Research Unit Wales.
Over the last decade, a multi-disciplinary team of specialists at the Centre for Research in the Built Environment has developed a comprehensive portfolio of research in the fields of environmental design, energy efficiency of buildings and urban sustainable development. The exhibition is arranged thematically to cover all aspects of sustainable design and concludes by projecting ideas about global and local futures.
Allied to this is the work of the Design Research Unit Wales, a design practice set up to apply research through design in practical projects. On display will be a series of projects interrogating the nature of architecture in Wales by focusing on place, landscape, modern methods of construction and social sustainability.
Working together in this way, the two groups will show how research in action and design in practice can be harnessed for a sustainable future.
The exhibition runs at the Wales Millennium Centre until 30 November 2008 and is open to all.
