30 November 2007
Students from the Cardiff International Academy of Voice will round off their autumn concert series tonight (30 November) with an Operatic Gala.
Throughout November singers from the Academy have given a series of public performances, and have sung alongside world famous opera stars. These included New Zealand soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa in a sell-out Royal Gala tribute to Welsh tenor and Academy director Dennis O’Neill at the Wales Millennium Centre.
In conclusion to the concert series, Academy students will tonight perform a selection of well-known operatic ensembles by composers such as Verdi, Beethoven and Strauss, with Bryan Davies at the piano.
The Academy provides specialist training for exceptional opera singers from around the world under the guidance of Dennis O’Neill. Through a series of master-classes and workshops given by established names in the operatic world, the students are able to perfect their vocal techniques and fulfil their world performance potential.
Tickets for the Operatic Gala can be bought for £9 (concessions £7) on 029 2048 1853. The concert will start at 7.30pm at the University Concert Hall, Corbett Road, CF10 3EB
