The following sites are arranged (alphabetically) into 3 sections: General Maths websites, Statistical websites and Other Interesting websites. The sites cover a range of different levels but a brief description of each site is included. If you know of any other good websites which you think should be included in this list please let us know.
General Maths Websites
Level: Post-16
Description: This website uses a combination of descriptive pages and interactive exercises. It covers the core curriculum topics that often prove difficult, for example, algebra, logs, differentiation, probability and statistics.
Level: GCSE
Description: BBC website where topics are broken down into small sections. Descriptions, examples and exercises are all available on varying GCSE level problems.
Level: A-level to Undergraduate
Description: Interactive mathematics provides a range of basic thoery and interactive examples for a range of mathematical topics. It also explores some applied "real world" examples.
Level: Preliminary and First Year Undergraduate
Description: Just the Maths is a collection of separate units (downloadable pdf files) ranging from Arithmetic to Z-transforms. Each unit represents, on average, the work to be covered in a typical two-hour session consisting of a lecture and a tutorial.
Level: AS-level to Undergraduate
Description: Interactive web based pdf documents from the University of Plymouth. The files include notes, exercises and quizzes and so allow students to test their understanding of the material with immediate feedback. Packages include Basic Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus etc. and also Applications of Mathematics in Science and Engineering.
Level: GCSE to First Year Undergraduate
Description: A wealth of free resources including detailed notes, quick sheets, video, pod casts etc. covering a range of mathematical topics.
Level: A-level to Undergraduate
Description: This website presents pure and applied mathematics resources, in particular Java applets and associated work sheets, intended to help deepen mathematical understanding.
Level: GCSE and A-level
Description: Numerous interactive pages, full of examples and simulations. Some of the GCSE topics are available via subscription only but the A-level topics are free and cover Pure Maths, Stats, Further Pure, Mechanics and Decision Maths modules.
Level: GCSE and A-level
Description: Descriptive web pages also containing practise questions, formula sheets and revision tips. Topics on both Mathematics and Statistics are covered here.
Level: GCSE - Undergraduate
Description: The University of Leeds website offers short step-by-step video solutions to problems from mathematical topics ranging from Numeracy to Calculus and Statistics.
Level: AS level to First Year Undergraduate.
Description: Online video tutorials, with diagnostics, summary text and exercises, on more than eighty topics. Designed to bridge the gap from school to university study.
Level: Preliminary Year to First Year Undergraduate
Description: A large interactive online resource containing explanations and exercises on a range of mathematical topics relevant to students studying a science based degree at university.
Level: GCSE
Description: The site includes factsheets, worksheets, quizzes and games to help improve your number skills. The areas covered are whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, data handling, measures shape and space.

Description: The site provides a glossary of mathematical terms and a range of interactive elements to enhance learning.
Statistical Websites

Description: The resources section of this website help determine which type of statistical test is appropriate for your study data, and also provides a corresponding calculator to do the analysis for you. It's quite useful for univariate or bivariate tests of analysis, but it doesn't provide support for multivariate analysis.
Level: A-level to First Year Undergraduate
Description: The aim of these pages is to aid the understanding of Basic Probability Theory by investigating various examples, exercises and illustrations. Typical topics include Venn diagrams, Conditional probability, Binomial distribution, Poisson distribution, Normal distribution, etc.
Level: Introductory Statistics through to detailed techniques.
Description: This website contains a range of texts and interactive simulations covering probability and statistical topics.

Description: A basic pdf based tutorial providing a introduction to the statistical software for the social sciences.

Description: These pages contain descriptions and interactive examples covering basic statistical methods. Typical topics include sampling distributions, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing.

Description: A website containing numerous worksheets, games and activities designed to support students’ mathematical studies up to and including GCSE level. Free registration allows access to all areas of the site.
Description: This website is designed to get people to engage with Mathematics through a range of interactive activities. This particular section contains a number of interesting mathematical facts. Note that many of the illustrations require a Java enabled browser.
Description: An easy to understand and engaging website relating to the number phi, what it is, and how it continually arises in nature. Particularly interesting for anyone who has read the Da-Vinci Code.
