Ce cours vous propose de découvrir la France à travers certains de ses personnages les plus célèbres qu’ils soient réels ou imaginaires. Cela pourra être à travers un écrivain / poète, par exemple Rabelais ou Baudelaire ; un homme politique, Chirac ou De Gaulle ; un criminel, Landru ou Mesrine ; un personnage fictif, Bécassine ou Astérix ; un/e couturier/e, Chanel ou YSL ; etc. Une approche nouvelle pour vous aider à mieux comprendre la culture et certaines époques de l’histoire de France. This course will enable students to further develop their oral and aural language skills, in order to become an independent user of French. Students will learn to express themselves in a more complex style on both concrete and abstract topics. Students will further develop their understanding of the culture of French speaking countries via the study of news items.
Learning and Teaching
News items extracted from current affairs at the time of teaching, supported with TV, radio, press and internet-based items. You will develop your confidence in using your French in the context of informal discussions, organised debates, role-plays and presentations.
Coursework and Assessment
This course has no formal assessment. Both your attendance and your participation in class will count towards the credits. Our assessments are flexible to suit the course and the student. The most important element of assessment is that it should enhance your learning. Our methods are designed to increase your confidence and we try very hard to devise ways of assessing you that are enjoyable and suitable for adults with busy lives.
