Noise awareness in the libraries

29 April 2014

Noise awareness

A noise awareness campaign is running in the University Libraries from Monday 28th April.

Coinciding with the summer exam period and the new 24 hour opening in the Arts and Social Studies Library, the pilot campaign aims to make students aware of the location of silent, quiet, and social areas in the libraries.

Students will notice new posters displayed prominently in the libraries following the Easter vacation. These include a mobile phone number to anonymously report excessive noise or disruption in the library.

Tracey Stanley, Deputy University Librarian, said: "We're aware that issues of noise and disruption, especially when the libraries are busy in the run-up to exams, is a concern for many students. We hope that having a consistent approach to this, and enabling the easy reporting of unreasonable behaviour, will ensure that everyone can get the most benefit from the different areas in our libraries."
