24/7 opening hours in Arts and Social Studies Library building
1 May 2013
Students and staff can now visit the Arts and Social Studies and Law Libraries at any time of the day or night, with the introduction of 24/7 opening hours to the building.
The pilot scheme will take place between Monday 6th May and Sunday 9th June, which will coincide with the busiest period of anticipated library use around the exam period.
As well as the two libraries, the building is also home to the eLounge, located on the lower ground floor. The eLounge provides a flexible social learning area and includes open access computers and three group study rooms, all equipped with PCs, whiteboards and plasma screens.
Tracey Stanley, Deputy University Librarian, said: "The new opening hours will provide further and more flexible support for students and researchers using the library's resources and facilities during one of the busiest periods of the academic year.
"Many of our other libraries are also operating extended opening hours during the spring semester, in response to comments in recent surveys and feedback events" added Tracey.
A University ID card is required for access to the Arts and Social Studies Library building at all times. Support from library and IT staff is available at the following times:
- Monday to Friday: 08.30 to 21.30
- Saturday: 10.00 to 17.30
- Sunday: 12.00 to 21.30
