Registering for eduroam
If you have a laptop and would like to register from home...you can register your laptop online by using Cardiff University's Campus Manager system This service is for staff and students with a valid Cardiff University network username and password who do not currently live in a University Residence connecting to RESLAN Please remember to follow the eduroam instructions for secure access to the Cardiff Wireless network. |
It is a requirement that any laptop connecting to the Cardiff University network have Cardiff University-approved anti-virus software, security updates installed and set to automatically receive updates.
If you do not have anti-virus software on your computer, please see the University's Computer Security and Anti-Virus page. Cardiff University staff and students can take advantage of our Sophos licence and are entitled to download and use Sophos Antivirus.
Each member of staff or student will be issued with one licence. The licence will last for one year and can be renewed provided you remain a member of staff or student of Cardiff University
Students connected to the RESLAN network will automatically have their laptop(s) registered for the wireless service.

Where can I register?
Staff members should contact their Local Computing Representative, or use any of locations below or register online.
Students and staff can bring their devices to any of the following locations:
- The IT Clinic, First Floor, Students' Union, 1-3pm Monday to Friday during term time.
- The Julian Hodge Study Centre
- Libraries on Cathays and Heath Park campuses
Students connected to the RESLAN network are automatically registered for the wireless service.

Which devices can I register?
Any device that has a wireless interface can be registered on the network providing it poses no risk to other users of the network.
This includes:
- Laptops
- PDAs
- iPhones and iPod Touch
- Kindles
- Ipads
- Wireless-capable phones
Who is eligible to register?
Cardiff University staff and students are eligible to register for the Cardiff Wireless service.
Cardiff University offers a guest wireless service, called CU-Guest-WiFi. This service is only intended for use by conference users and sponsored guests who are not authorised to connect via eduroam.
Information for RESLAN users
When you register for the RESLAN service your computer will automatically be registered for the Cardiff Wireless Service if it has a suitable wireless adapter.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
If your machine has been registered but you are still unable to connect to the Cardiff Wireless service please contact insrvConnect on 029 2087 4487 for advice and assistance. You can also visit the IT Clinic at the Students Union between 1-3pm, Monday-Friday during term time only.
Users of CU-Guest-WiFi should contact their conference organiser or their Cardiff University sponsor within their School or Division.
