CardiffMail is the current email service for the majority of Cardiff University staff.

Please note that students and Taught Postgraduates receive their email through Office 365.

Staff and Research Postgraduates will be upgrading to Office 365 from CardiffMail in early 2014. Please visit our email switchover site to find out when you will be upgrading and what you need to do to prepare. 


This messaging and collaboration service allows you to organise your electronic mail and to schedule appointments, tasks and reminder notes.  It is also fully integrated with other components of the University IT Programme to provide a powerful service, which supports your communication needs.

There are two versions of CardiffMail:

  • CardiffMail Notes - provides access to your email and contacts, and allows you to schedule appointments, browse the Web, contribute to Internet newsgroups and collaborate with colleagues
  • CardiffMail Web - provides web access to your email and calendaring service.

Web Access to CardiffMail

CardiffMail Web is a fully featured web client for web access to your University email, calendar, contacts and collaboration services. It combines most of the functionality of CardiffMail Notes via a convenient and accessible web interface.

You can access this service through visiting Cardiff Portal and logging in using your Cardiff University username and password.  You can find your email by selecting the 'Email' tab at the top of the screen.
