Library Review Reports

The outcome of the first ever comprehensive review of the University Library Service is now available.

During the 2004 / 05 Session, the Review Group examined the University’s needs from the Library Service over the next decade, and undertook extensive consultation with staff and students in each of the Academic Schools. View the results of the questionnaire survey and the consultation with Schools' research and learning and teaching committees.

Following the merger of Cardiff University with the former University of Wales College of Medicine in 2004, a follow-up Phase 2 Review was conducted in 2007.  This addresses the needs of the Heath Park-based Schools and of those healthcare placement students from Cardiff who use NHS libraries around Wales with which the University has agreements for library services to be provided.

In the work of the Review Group, the key theme has been the development of an innovative and forward looking library service to support the University’s 21st century aspirations. The recommendations are aimed at the creation of the necessary environment, physical and virtual, to promote such a service.
