Braille transcription service
The Braille transcription service is available on request by contacting the Arts and Social Studies Library (asslliby@cardiff.ac.uk) in the first instance. The service uses Duxbury Braille Translator 10.7 and Basic Braille Embosser to produce the Braille. The service will incur a cost, payable by internal order.
Please note: the Braille produced is not proof-read and relies entirely on the software translation program. We cannot accept any liability for mistakes.
What we require
The document for transcription should be provided in Microsoft Word format where possible.
Timescales
The turnaround time for producing Braille will depend on the size and complexity of the document. Generally, the transcription can be made available in two working days. However, it is advisable to allow four or five working days if possible.
Cost
The charge for the service will be based on the following model:
| Set-up charge for job: | £18 per hour pro-rata |
| Price per page cost: | 20p per page of Braille produced |
| Total cost: |
