Off-Campus access to electronic resources
Staff and students registered on the Cardiff University computing network can access most of the University's electronic resources when working off-campus.
Accessing electronic journals, books and databases
The recommended route is via the intranet. From the library page, enter your search term in the LibrarySearch text box to locate the electronic book or journal you require. To access a database, go to the 'Information resources for your subject' page and select your study area to view all the databases and e-resources associated with that subject.
Opening full text journal articles within electronic databases
Many databases to which the Library subscribes now show this button in the search results:
Click on the button to view Cardiff University's eLibrary screen:
If the Library subscribes to the journal containing the article, you will see a 'full text available via...' link. Click Go to open the full text article. If prompted, enter your Cardiff University computer username and password.
Some databases also offer Full Text buttons when Cardiff University Library has a subscription to the journal. If you have accessed the database via Cardiff Portal, these buttons will lead you directly to the full text article.
If these buttons aren't available in the database you are using, you will need to find the journal in which the article is published by accessing LibrarySearch or the eLibrary via Cardiff Portal .
