CD1: An Introduction to Using the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite

Available as part of the Windows 7 image, the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite offers tools that allow you to create graphical images as well as manipulate digitally stored images.

This pilot workshop will show you how to start using CorelDRAW and COREL PHOTO-PAINT that together allow you to manipulate digital images that can then be used in other applications or uploaded and used as part of a web page.

Topics Covered

This half-day workshop provides a basic introduction to how CorelDRAW allows you to create and manipulate vector graphics (shapes) to build up a digital image.  In addition, Corel PHOTO-PAINT will be used to extract elements from digital images and incorporate them into a layered image that can be stored in various formats for use in other computer-based applications.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • draw basic vectors graphics, or shapes, to build up an image using CorelDRAW
  • extract parts of digital images using the Corel PHOTO-PAINT editing tools
  • create multiple layers in an image to allow separate parts of images to be edited independently
  • store edited images in various formats for use in other computer-based applications

Prerequisites

As an introductory course into the use of the basic image editing tools available in the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite you need only to have a desire to edit digital images and the ability to use a mouse to control applications using the Windows interface to be able to attend this course.  No prior knowledge, or use, of CorelDRAW will be assumed.
