What is Digimap?
Digimap is a collection of services for viewing and downloading digital maps and map data for England, Wales and Scotland. Digimap includes:
Ordnance Survey Collection
The OS Collection includes a range of services for viewing, printing and downloading current map data.
The Roam service offers the easiest way to find and print a map and has a choice of 12 pre-set scales which use different OS products. Carto is available for those who require the facility to define the scale of their map or print in large format such as A0.
Data Download and MasterMap Download can be used to download map data for use in CAD and GIS software packages.

Historic Digimap
Historic Digimap includes the Ancient Roam service for viewing and printing historic maps from the 1840s to the 1990s. Historic Download is also available for downloading larger areas of town plans, county series and national grid maps.

Geology Digimap
Geology Digimap provides map data from the British Geological Survey and the BGS lexicon of named rock units. Data can be downloaded for use in a GIS.

Marine Digimap
Marine Digimap includes the Chartered Raster and Hydrospatial datasets provided by SeaZone. Data can be downloaded for use in a GIS.

Digimap OpenStream
A free service for the UK Higher Education community which delivers Ordnance Survey OpenData using open standard WMS technology. Digimap OpenStream includes the following OS OpenData products: Miniscale, 1:250,000 Scale Colour Raster, OS Vector Map District (Raster) and OS Street View. Digimap OpenStream products can be embedded within a web page, added as a new layer in Google Earth and used with desktop GIS applications.
How do I access Digimap?
Digimap services and data can be accessed and used by Cardiff University staff from both on- and off-campus.
Go to Cardiff Portal and login with your Cardiff University computer username and password. Click on Library and choose Databases from the menu. Choose Digimap from the A-Z list. At the Digimap home page, select the service you require.
You will need to register in order to use Digimap Ordnance Survey Collection, Geology Digimap or Marine Digimap. A separate registration process is also required for Digimap OpenStream. Historic Digimap requires no registration.
To register, just select the Digimap service you wish to use and you will be directed to the registration form. When your registration has been approved you will be notified by email. Please allow up to 2 working days for the form to be processed.

Terms and conditions of using Digimap
- Digimap data and services may only be used by staff and students of Cardiff University who have registered to use Digimap (Historic Digimap users need not be registered). You must never share your username and password with anyone else so that they may access the data.
- Usage must be only for academic purposes. Digimap must not be used for personal or commercial purposes.
- The appropriate copyright statement should be displayed on or near any maps and data retrieved from Digimap.
