British Nursing Index
Indexes articles from the most popular English language nursing journals published primarily in the UK. BNI also include the RCN Journals archived index of citations, covering over 300 British and English language nursing related journals from 1985 to 1996.

Cinahl
CINAHL - Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature
Provides coverage of virtually all English-language nursing and allied health publications along with the publications of the American Nurses Association and the National League for Nursing.
The database also provides access to healthcare books, nursing dissertations, selected conference proceedings, standards of professional practice, educational software and audiovisual materials in nursing.

DARE
DARE (Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects)
High quality systematic research reviews of the effects of health care interventions.
Medline
Contains bibliographic citations and author abstracts from more than 4,600 biomedical journals published in the United States and in 70 other countries.

A service from the National Library of Medicine. Provides access to over 11 million citations from medical and life science journals through MEDLINE and Pre-MEDLINE and other related databases.

Produced by the Health Care Information Service of the British Library. Covers a selection of journals in complementary medicine, palliative care, and several professions allied to medicine. Subjects covered include:

Applied Social Sciences Index and Abstracts provides references and summaries of articles covering:

It is updated daily and coverage is from 1987. ASSIA currently contains over 375,000 records from over 500 journals published in 16 different countries, including the UK and US.

Cochrane Library
Contains regularly updated reviews on the effects of health care interventions on the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of health problems.
ERIC
Indexes journal articles, multi-author volumes, conferences and official reports relating to education from 1962. Up to 14,000 documents and over 20,000 journal articles are indexed per year.

A new database and search tool launched in 2005 by Elsevier. Includes over 14,000 scholarly journals in scientific, medical, technical, and social science disciplines. Coverage goes back selectively to 1966.

Identifies evidence based healthcare resources on the internet, including peer reviewed journals and e-textbooks.
Web of Knowledge
This service provides access to the Web of Science databases:
- Arts & Humanities Citation Index
- Social Science Citation Index
- Science Citation Index
Covers over 8,500 scholarly research journals, including author abstracts, from 1981 to the present. Searchable by keyword or by works that have been cited by other publications.
Also includes the ISI Journal Citation Reports for the Sciences and Social Sciences. To access the Reports, login to Web of Knowledge and select the ISI Journal Citation Reports option from the home page. These provide easy access to data so scholarly journals can be compared. Categories include highest impact and most frequently cited journals.

Zetoc - The British Library's Electronic Table of Contents Service
Contains contents information from approximately 20,000 current journals and 16,000 conference proceedings published every year, across all academic disciplines. Covers the years from 1993 to the present. Updated daily.
