Some databases require your Cardiff University network username and password for off-campus access. These databases are available for all staff and students of Cardiff University but because of licensing restrictions they are not available to external members and visitors.

Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents (via Lexis®Library)
The Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents (EFP), which is held on Lexis®Library, is a database of electronic forms and precedents that is of use to practising solicitors and barristers.

To access EFP off-campus your Cardiff University network username and password will be required.
Laserform can be used in conjunction with EFP for completing and printing legal and other business forms. It can only be used by the students or staff of Cardiff Law School. To access Laserform, click on Start / Networked Applications / Departmental Software / Law School. Click on Laserform.
The English Reports
Pre-1865 law reports.
There are four ways to access the English Reports.
- Via Westlaw UK - in the Cases database
- Via LexisLibrary - the the Cases database
- Via HeinOnline. You will need your Cardiff University Login to access HeinOnline off campus.
- Via the CommonLII (Commonwealth Legal Information Institute) website
European Sources Online
Previously called KnowEurope. ESO is an index to information sources about Europe, focusing on the European Union and other pan-European organisations, the countries of Europe, and on the issues of importance to European citizens and stakeholders.
ESO provides full text access to publications, documents and web sites from the EU and other international organisations, national governments, thinktanks and stakeholder organisations. In addition, it includes full text articles from news sources, and bibliographic references to key academic textbooks and periodical articles. Information guides provide additional help in finding out about the policies and institutions of the European Union and European countries.

Hansard
House of Commons debates from 1988 and House of Lords debates from 1994 are available on the web and are updated each morning.
Networked CD-ROMs of House of Commons debates between 1988 and 1996 and House of Lords debates between 1992 and 1996 enable searches by member or constituency or by words used in the debates. The CD-ROMs are available on the Cardiff University campus only.
HeinOnline
Provides full text journal articles from over 1,000 law and law related journals (including UK and US law journals), the English Reports (cases decided in England and Wales from 1220 to 1865) and the Statutes of the Realm (legislation passed at Westminster between 1235 and 1713).

Lawtel
Lawtel provides summaries of case law and links to statutes, bills and command papers, personal injury quantum (including Kemp and Kemp Quantum Reports) and the Judicial Studies Board guidelines on general damages in personal injury cases. Lawtel is updated daily.

A comprehensive newspaper database, updated daily, providing full text access to all UK national newspapers, plus regional newspapers, international news providers and a number of trade journals and magazines. Most titles have a twenty year archive. UK newspaper titles include:

The database also includes company data. Annual Reports are available for UK quoted companies as well as selected European, Asian and US companies. Financial information is provided by Extel Cards and Worldscope and the Directory of Directors provides details of 45,700 directors of UK Companies. Please be aware that this resource will only run on a Windows PC.

United Nations Treaty Collection
United Nations Treaty Collection
The United Nations Treaty Collection is the official database of the United Nations and includes:
- The full text of over 150,000 bilateral and multilateral treaties
- The status of over 500 major multilateral treaties deposited with the Secretary-General of the United Nations
- The League of Nations Treaty Series (1920-1944)

Full text law reports and legislation from UK, Europe and the United States along with many full text journals.

House of Commons Parliamentary Papers
The House of Commons Parliamentary Papers (HCPP):
- provides access to Bills, Command Papers and House of Commons Papers printed between 1801 and the 2003/04 session.
- includes The Eighteenth Century Parliamentary Papers Collection from BOPCRIS which features publications published officially by the House of Commons or the House of Lords from 1688 to 1834, including sessional papers and other material such as Journals and Private Acts.
