What are the User Guides for?

• A series of user guides have been produced to enable staff to run BusinessObjects Online reports and use the various functions available.
• User Guides have been designed for staff to work through at their own pace.
• All user guides are available from the Related Resources on the right.

• If you wish to log on, open and run an existing report, this guide will be sufficient for your needs.

Introduction to BusinessObjects Online

• This user guide is aimed at new and infrequent users of BusinessObjects.
• This user guide provides a full explanation of all functions required by most users.

BusinessObjects Online - Exporting Data for Emails

• This guide explains how you can use data from BusinessObjects to email groups of students or staff.

BusinessObjects Online - Exporting data for Letters & Labels

• This guide explains how to merge the information in two documents to produce letters and labels.
• One document contains the data which is exported from BusinessObjects reports.

BusinessObjects Online: Report Modification

• This guide follows on the from the Introduction user guide and explains how to modify existing BusinessObjects reports.
• Functions covered include sorting, filtering, adding calculations, sectioning, adding columns.

BusinessObjects Online - Applicant Statistical Reporting

• This guide explains how to using the Applicant Statistical reports.
• Data can be viewed at summary level and then can be drilled down for more detailed data.
• Available for student/SIMS data only.
• Includes instructions on the use of the Excel spreadsheet called Applicant Formatting for enhanced formatting.

• This guide explains how to use the statistical BusinessObjects reports which shows student progression through their undergraduate studies.
• Global figures for one course, school or the whole university can be viewed.
• Alternatively progression of one individual can be viewed.
• Available for student/SIMS data only.
