New Systematic Review Network launched

7 January 2011

A new network, to encourage collaborative working between Academic Schools involved in systematic reviews, was launched by Information Services in September.

The Cardiff University Systematic Review Network (SysNet), which is funded by the five Healthcare Schools, aims to bring together the expertise from the Schools to share best practice in undertaking high-quality systematic reviews.

Researchers in many Schools are active reviewers and 107 systematic reviews published since 2005 have Cardiff University authors.

One of only a few current initiatives to encourage collaborative working between researchers undertaking systematic reviews in academia in the UK, SysNet is open to all members of Cardiff University, and is coordinated within INSRV’s Support Unit for Research Evidence (SURE).

As well as encouraging and facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration, SysNet members receive regular updates in systematic review methodology, and notification of funding opportunities, events, conferences and training. The Network is growing fast, and since its launch in September, 45 researchers from 7 Academic Schools have joined SysNet, and there have been 15 specific requests for training sessions, review methodology and grant bid support.
