New support for Skype launched
7 January 2011
During October, University IT launched enhanced support for Skype, which provides low-cost, fully supported desktop videoconferencing to users across the University.
Users of INSRV-managed workstations across campus can now easily install Skype, or get assistance with Skype problems from the INSRV IT Service Desk.
Skype is free software which, loaded onto a PC or Mac, allows users to make voice only or voice and video desktop-to-desktop calls to another Skype user free of charge. Users need a webcam, microphone and speakers or headphones to use the software, which is now available on all INSRV-managed workstations (please see below for further links and information).
The University community can access, and have support for, this useful resource, potentially reducing travelling, saving time and enabling easier connections between colleagues across the University's campuses.
