Visibility Matters: Promoting Sexual Orientation Equality

This session explores the importance of recognising the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender staff and students and considers how active measures to promote an inclusive environment can fit with respect for individual privacy. It also examines some of the subtle ways in which sexual orientation discrimination can take place and provides an understanding of the legal framework introduced by the Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) Regulations, which came into effect in December 2003 and reinforced by the new Equality Act 2010.
