Teaching, Learning & Assessment

Achieving Professional Recognition for teaching through the HEA

2 hours

Do you teach, support learning, or otherwise contribute to the student learning experience? You can apply to the Higher Education Academy (HEA) for recognition of your teaching professionalism against the ‘UK Professional Standards Framework for Teaching and Supporting Learning in Higher Education’ (UKPSF). This two-hour session will introduce you to the UKPSF and help you decide which of the 4 levels of recognition (Associate, Fellow, Senior Fellow, Principal Fellow) is suitable for you. We shall look at the elements of the Standards and discuss the process involved in the application and recognition process. By the end of the session participants should be confident about submitting for recognition.

16 October 2013
09:00 – 11:00
Roath Room, 11th Floor, 30 - 36 Newport Road

19 February 2014
13:00 – 15:00
Room UG14, Henry Wellcome Building, School of Medicine, Heath Park Campus

Applying to the HEA for recognition against the UKPSF? The HEA requires that you provide an institutional endorsement. This institutional endorsement should come from a professional who has senior responsibility for professional development learning and teaching within the institution. You will need to enter the name, title and institutional email address of the signatory when completing your application. In Cardiff's case this is:

Professor Patricia Price

Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience and Academic Standards

PricePE@cardiff.ac.uk

When submitting your application please email Professor Price (copying in her PA Lisa Pearson, PearsonLJ@cardiff.ac.uk) so that she will be expecting your endorsement request. Cardiff University will be automatically prompted when you submit your application with a request to confirm that we endorse it. The endorsement is only to confirm that your application is known to the University. It is not an indication of any judgement about your application and there is no necessity for the signatory to comment on it. For more information about the HEA recognition process please visit: http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/professional-recognition or attend one of our introductory workshops.
