Your Employment Rights: Probation, Appraisal and Career Development for Researchers

This session will give an overview of the contractual rights and responsibilities of new members of staff serving a one year probation period, along with information regarding the operation of the probation scheme at Cardiff. It will also provide information about the University's general staff development policy, and its additional schemes to support the career development of researchers. It will also explore some practical ways of getting the most out of the University's performance review schemes (i.e. probation and appraisal) in line with the individual's personal circumstances.
