Visual Basic 2010: An Introduction

This course will provide an introduction to the Visual Basic programming language and its usage. After attending this course you will have acquired the basic skills in programming in Visual Basic. Topics covered in this course for beginners include a discussion of the of the difference between Console Applications and Windows Forms Applications, data types, operators, use of conditional and interactive control statements, forms, use of controls from the toolbox such as labels, text boxes, buttons, list boxes and timers, handling events such as mouse clicks, the graphical co-ordinate system, mathematical and string functions, arrays, files and modules.

Prior programming experience is not necessary.

Places on this workshop are open to staff members on a Research only contract, other staff groups are welcome to apply for a place and will be entered onto a reserve list, in the event of a place becoming vacant a week prior to the session commencing staff members will be offered a place.
