Developing an Academic Career in the Humanities/Social Sciences
This workshop provides an introduction to academic careers. It will discuss the changing nature of the HE landscape and the impact this has on recruitment. You will find out about the range of academic career pathways available and learn about the differences between them. Practical exercises will get you thinking about what type of role would be of interest to you and the things you need to be doing now to prepare yourself.
Through attendance you will:
- increase your understanding of the nature of an academic career;
- be aware of the main factors for choosing the appropriate academic job;
- gain insight into the skills, knowledge and experience required for different types of academic post;
- start planning for the type of role(s) you are interested in.
