12 - 2.30pm
The first Research Staff Policy Forum 2010 was held on 26th January in Committee Rooms 1 and 2, Glamorgan Building, Cathays Park. The event focused on UK and University policy developments affecting the career development of research staff across Cardiff University. The event included updates from
- Dr Iain Cameron, Head of the UK Research Councils’ Research Careers and Diversity Unit, on progress towards implementing the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers across the UK;
- Professor Terry Threadgold, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Staff on the University’s progress in implementing the Concordat and the results of the 2009 Careers in Research Online Survey 2009;
- Professor Terry Rees, Pro Vice Chancellor for Research, on the proposed Research Excellence Framework (REF), and its implications for research staff.
Aims of the Research Staff Policy Forum
Attendance at the Forum provided an excellent opportunity for research staff to meet other researchers from across the Institution, to ensure that their views are heard by the University’s senior management, and to feed into the University’s plans for the implementation of the Concordat.
