Staff Experience Survey

Welcome to the Staff Experience Survey web pages.  This website provides information on the results of the 2008 Staff Attitude Survey, information on what has happened since, and information on the current survey, which is open until the 11th November 2011.

Cardiff University’s first staff attitude survey took place in 2008 as part of the Positive Working Environment initiative.  A 43% response rate was achieved, and an incredibly useful data set was obtained, which has enabled the University to take action to address the issues and concerns that were raised by staff through the survey process.

Conducting a staff survey periodically is an incredibly useful tool for finding out the opinions of staff in relation to working at Cardiff University.  The data obtained through the survey process enables the University to evaluate levels of satisfaction in relation to many different aspects of working life.  This in turn allows for the identification of any concerns or issues that staff may have, which can then be addressed.

The data received through the survey process is also incredibly helpful for action planning at a School or Directorate level.  Upon completion of the survey, a number of analyses are conducted, which generally include a report for the University as a whole, and reports for each of the University’s Schools and Directorates.  This allows each area to compare the satisfaction of the respondents within the School or Directorate with those of the University as a whole, and to action plan accordingly.  

The generation of meaningful and useful data, both for the University as a whole and each of the Schools and Directorates, relies upon members of staff in all areas completing the survey, and we are grateful to all of those who took time to complete the survey in 2008.  Although the survey may take a different format in different years, the anonymity of respondents will always be ensured, and the reporting mechanisms are such that no-one could be identified from the results.
