About Staff Discounts
Results of the 2008 Staff Attitude Survey showed that a large percentage of staff wanted the University to provide a more comprehensive package of benefits and discounts for staff to utilise. Following on from this feedback, a variety of staff discounts were arranged with companies both nationally and within the local area as part of the Positive Working Environment initiative, and a new Staff Discounts website was launched in December 2008.
Following the launch of the new Staff Discounts website, a large number of staff began to contact PWE to find out if it would be possible to organise discounts with specific companies or shops. A significant number of the discounts that now appear on the website were arranged following requests from members of staff. Although enquiries aren’t always successful, many companies are delighted to be able to offer discounts to Cardiff University’s 6,000+ members of staff. If you would like us to try to arrange a staff discount with a particular company, or if you know of a company that would be interested in this opportunity, please email as much information as possible to pwe@cardiff.ac.uk or call us on x79231.
In addition to the Staff Discounts website, a mailing list has also been set up, and any short-term offers or promotions that are received by Positive Working Environment are circulated to all members of staff on this list. The special offers that circulated via this list can be from companies with whom we do not have a permanent arrangement in addition to special offers from those who provide discounts on a permanent/long-term basis.
