HR Operations

Between Tuesday 23 October 2012 and Friday 2 November 2012 HR Operations staff will be training on the new Core HR system. In those two weeks there will only be a skeleton team available to carry out normal business in HR Operations and levels of service and support we can provide will be reduced. Normal service will resume from Monday 5 November 2012.

University Christmas Closure 2012

The University will close at 5 pm on 21 December 2012 and re-open on Wednesday 2 January 2013.

Staff will take the following four closure days from their annual leave entitlement:

• Monday 24 December 2012
• Thursday 27 December 2012
• Friday 28 December 2012
• Monday 31 December 2012.

Union Time Off and Facilities Agreement

Cardiff University, in conjunction with UCU, UNISON and UNITE, has agreed to implement a Union Time Off and Facilities agreement prior to agreeing a Recognition agreement. The Union Time Off and Facilities Agreement sets out the arrangements for releasing staff who are accredited union representatives to carry out their union duties and will provide guidance for those staff, their colleagues and managers. If you require assistance with the interpretation of the policy please contact your relevant HR Manager.

Where you are a manager with a member of staff who is an accredited union representative your HR Manager will be in contact to arrange a meeting to discuss nominal hours and arrangements for time off for union duties for the Academic year.
