High End Computing

High End Computing (HEC) is a hugely powerful technique which is already enabling and transforming research in more than half of the schools across the University. This technique uses leading-edge IT resources and tools to pursue research; including computer simulation and modelling, manipulating and storing large amounts of data, and many other methods to solve research problems that would otherwise be impossible.

At Cardiff, we use the term Advanced Research Computing to cover the whole range of HEC and e-research techniques that are available to today's researchers.

The University is setting up a new division - Advanced Research Computing @ Cardiff (ARCCA) - to transform the use, support, provision and coordination of these essential research techniques. The new web site for ARCCA is under construction.

If you would like further information about how ARCCA can enable your research, please email arcca@cardiff.ac.uk, or contact Dr Chris Dickson, Advanced Research Computing Programme Coordinator, on (029) 208 74215 or Cathays Campus extension 74215.
