Social Events

The Graduate Centre hosts a variety of social events through the year - including free weekly film nights - which are open to all postgraduate students at Cardiff. You can also bring guests along to social events!

Coach Trips

The Graduate Centre operates fortnightly coach trips to great destinations in the UK which are open to postgraduates and their invited guests. You can check out our schedule and prices on the Trips webpage.

Saturday 30 March, 7pm

Movie (New Release): The Perks of Being a Wallflower

15-year-old Charlie, an endearing and naive outsider,  is coping with first love, the suicide of his best friend, and his own mental illness while struggling to find a group of people with whom he belongs. The introvert freshman is taken under the wings of two seniors, Sam and Patrick, who welcome him to the real world.

Movie (New Release): The Bourne Legacy

Jason Bourne is replaced a new hero whose stakes have been triggered by the events of the previous three films. Top action starrring Jeremy Renner.

Movie (Classic Film): The Wizard of Oz

We're off to meet the Wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz, because because because because because... Classic musical fun starring Judy Garland as Dorothy.

Movie (World Cinema): Untouchable

On the day of her birthday, Jeanne, a young actress, is told that her father is an Indian her mother met on the banks of the Ganges. From then on, Jeanne acts with singleness of purpose: she accepts a shameful role in a poor movie just for the money, buys an air ticket and flies to India, where she both hopes and fears to meet her biological father.

As the result of a childhood wish, John Bennett's teddy bear, Ted, came to life and has been by John's side ever since - a friendship that's tested when Lori, John's girlfriend, wants more from their relationship.

Movie (World Cinema): The Hunt

A lonely teacher struggles over his son's custody. His life slowly gets better as he finds love and receives good news from his son, but his new luck is about to be brutally shattered by an innocent little lie.

Movie (New Release): Argo

Winner of Best Picture at the 2013 Oscars. Ben Affleck directs this dramatization of the 1980 joint CIA-Canadian secret operation to extract six fugitive American diplomatic personnel out of revolutionary Iran.

Movie (Classic Film): Memento

A man who suffers from short-term memory loss and cannot recall the previous day, uses notes and tattoos to hunt for the man he thinks killed his wife.

Movie (World Cinema): The Secret World of Arrietty

The Clock family are four-inch-tall people who live anonymously in another family's residence, borrowing simple items to make their home. Life changes for the Clocks when their daughter, Arrietty, is discovered.

Postgraduate Summer Party

A major date for your calendar! The year’s only summer social event exclusively for All Postgraduates is coming soon, and you don’t want to miss it!

This year’s party, taking in place in one of Cardiff top venues  will include plenty of food, refreshments, music and entertainment; with tickets available to buy from the graduate centre reception in April.

Movie (New Release): Silver Linings Playbook

After a stint in a mental institution, Pat moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife. Things get more challenging when Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own.

A silent film production company and cast make a difficult transition to sound. Lots of classic singing and dancing, starring Gene Kelly.

An airline pilot saves almost all his passengers on his malfunctioning airliner which eventually crashed, but an investigation into the accident reveals something troubling.
