(News on 2014 Survey to follow)
Stonewall wants your views!

As part of the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index 2013 submission the University is keen to encourage all LGBT+ members of staff to share their views of working for Cardiff University with Stonewall.  This makes up a vital part of the submission process and all comments go directly to Stonewall.

To complete the staff survey please visit: www.stonewall.org.uk/wei2013/survey and enter the code 605 which identifies you as a member of staff at Cardiff University.

The deadline for the survey is Friday 14 September 2012.  If anyone has any questions about the survey or the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index you can contact Karen Cooke, Chair of Enfys (Staff LGBT+ network) on enfys@cf.ac.uk or 70063.

(News on 2013 Leadership Programme to follow)
Stonewall Leadership Programme 2012 – Call for Applications

Stonewall’s Leadership Programme is the UK’s only specifically designed course for high talent LGB leaders.  Over two days the programme enables gay professionals to look at their leadership from the dual perspectives of their sexual orientation and their workplace context. It provides a space where delegates feel safe to discuss how their difference as gay people impacts on their leadership experiences and outcomes. The unique freedom delegates experience to bring their sexual orientation into exploration of their leadership strongly influences their learning about why they operate at work in the way they do and how this impacts on their outcomes as leaders.

The University would like to fund two members of staff to attend the programme. A maximum of two applications per organisation will be accepted and successful applicants will be notified in October.  The Leadership Programme takes place on the 22nd and 23rd November at Ashridge Business School.

Karen Cooke, Chair of ENFYS our staff LGBT+ network attended the course two years ago and said 'The Stonewall Leadership Programme is without doubt the best leadership development course I have attended.  The environment that is created on the course, the range of people you meet from different sectors and the opportunity of discussing the importance of sexuality and leadership really does make it a unique experience and one I have hugely benefited from in the way that I work and perform.'

We are therefore asking those who are interested in being nominated to apply to the University using elements of the application process required by Stonewall themselves:

1.  Send us an 850 character (approx 125 words) Giving personal insights, please tell us about your motivation for applying to the Stonewall Leadership Programme.

2.  Include 550 characters (approx 100 words) What role do you think your sexual orientation currently has in your leadership outcomes?

3.  In 450 characters (approx 75 words) What do you hope to do achieve through your leadership on your return to your workplace?

4. Send us a one-page version of your current CV.

Staff who are interested can send their applications to Karen Cooke via email at CookeK1@cardiff.ac.uk  or address hard copies to Karen at 11th Floor, McKenzie House, 30-36 Newport Road, Cardiff CF24 0DE.  The deadline for applications is Monday 3 September 2012. Once we have received applications we will set up a small panel to be chaired by myself and including members of the LGBT+ Staff Network to select our two nominees.  We will then give them our fullest support in their applications to Stonewall.

Further information is available from Ashley Thomas, Client and Leadership Programmes Manager on 0207 5931888 or at leadership@stonewall.org.uk or by contacting Karen Cooke on Ext 70063 or at Enfys@cf.ac.uk
