We are still working on our Open Day programme. Full information (including times and meeting points) about our tours will appear closer to the event. Below are examples of the types of tours that are likely to be available.
Why not take a walking tour with one of our student guides for a more general feel of the University and its environment? There will be plenty of time to ask questions to your Cardiff University student guide and it’s the ideal way to find out more about the academic and social facilities in different areas of the University campus. Each tour lasts approximately 45 minutes.
If you are new to the city of Cardiff, why not take a coach tour of the city centre and its sights? You will see Cardiff’s magnificent civic buildings (of which the University is a key part), Cardiff Castle and the Millennium Stadium. Each tour lasts approximately 50 minutes.
Settling in and making new friends are important first steps in university life. With 14 different residences providing in excess of 5,200 study bedrooms, Cardiff’s students can apply for the residences which best suit their particular preferences, with most of the residences within easy walking distance of the main campus and city centre.
Flats are available to view in Senghennydd Court, Talybont Court and Talybont South Halls of Residences.
(for the Schools of Dentistry, Healthcare Studies, Medicine, Nursing & Midwifery and Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education)A tour of the University Hospital of Wales site has been introduced to allow students to see first-hand the library facilities at the £18M Cochrane Building where students from all five academic schools listed above will study part of their course.
The University is also able to offer a range of bursaries to talented young sportsmen and women. For further information please visit the Sports Bursary Programme web pages.
Cardiff University Students' Union, voted "the biggest and best in the UK" by The Independent, offers a wide range of support services and entertainment to the student membership. It caters for all areas of student life, from handling issues in its fully staffed Advice and Representation Centre, to offering thousands of employment, professional development and work experience opportunities. Together with nine bars including a newly revamped pub and 1,900 capacity nightclub, the Union also boasts its own concert venue, the Great Hall, which has welcomed acts such as Rita Ora, Noah and the Whale, Paolo Nutini and Fall Out Boy to name but a few. The Union is the centre of extra-curricular life on campus - you will need more than three years to do everything!
Guided toursVisitors will have the opportunity to speak to current students, Sabbatical Officers and staff who will be delighted to answer any questions on the Union and its facilities.
The chaplains, representing the main Christian denominations and acting as contact points for all world religions, will be on hand to answer questions about religious communities in Cardiff and University life in general.
