Tours

Campus tours

when? 9.00am - 3.30pm (the last tour will depart at 2.45pm)
where? Horseshoe Drive, Museum Avenue entrance to Main Building

Why not take a walking tour with one of our student guides for a more general feel of the University and its environment? There will be plenty of time to ask questions to your Cardiff University student guide and it’s the ideal way to find out more about the academic and social facilities in different areas of the University campus. Each tour lasts approximately 45 minutes.

City tours

when? 10.00am, 11.00am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm
where? The front of Main Building, Museum Avenue

If you are new to the city of Cardiff, why not take a coach tour of the city centre and its sights? You will see Cardiff’s magnificent civic buildings (of which the University is a key part), Cardiff Castle and the Millennium Stadium. Each tour lasts approximately 50 minutes.

Student Residences

Open Day residences tours are available for Senghennydd Court, Talybont Court and Talybont South Halls of Residences.

Settling in and making new friends are important first steps in university life. With 14 different residences providing in excess of 5,200 study bedrooms, Cardiff’s students can apply for the residences which best suit their particular preferences, with most of the residences within easy walking distance of the main campus and city centre.

Sport and Exercise facilities

The Fitness & Squash Centre — Senghennydd Road

when? 11.00am - 3.00pm (organised tours will take place every half hour)
where? Senghennydd Road

This includes a fitness suite with a full range of cardio vascular and weight and resistance equipment, in addition to three glassed back squash courts.

The Strength and Conditioning Centre, Park Place

when? 11.00am - 3.00pm (organised tours will take place every half hour)
where? 49 Park Place

This includes a strength and conditioning centre, incorporating a full range of Olympic based and functional training equipment in addition to a spin studio, fitness studio and well being treatment room.

The Sports Centre — Talybont

when? 11.00am - 3.00pm (organised tours will take place every half hour). (The last bus will leave Main Building at 2.15pm and Talybont at 3.15pm)
where? Coaches depart from Museum Avenue. Please report to the Sports Centre reception on arrival.
Time to allow for using shuttle bus: 1 hour (including viewing)

The University’s main Sports Centre, offering a wide range of facilities for club and individual use. These include Sports Halls, a Fitness Suite, Indoor Cricket wickets, Tennis Courts, a floodlit Astroturf pitch and grass training pitches.

The Students' Union

when? 9.30am - 3.30pm

where? Students’ Union Reception

Cardiff University Students' Union, voted "the biggest and best in the UK" by The Independent, offers a wide range of support services and entertainment to the student membership. It caters for all areas of student life, from handling issues in its fully staffed Advice and Representation Centre, to offering thousands of employment, professional development and work experience opportunities. Together with nine bars including a newly revamped pub and 1,900 capacity nightclub, the Union also boasts its own concert venue, the Great Hall, which has welcomed acts such as Rita Ora, Noah and the Whale, Paolo Nutini and Fall Out Boy to name but a few. The Union is the centre of extra-curricular life on campus - you will need more than three years to do everything!

Guided tours
Visitors will have the opportunity to speak to current students, Sabbatical Officers and staff who will be delighted to answer any questions on the Union and its facilities.

Chaplaincy

The chaplains, representing the main Christian denominations and acting as contact points for all world religions, will be on hand to answer questions about religious communities in Cardiff and University life in general.
