Minimum Entry Requirements

Standard A-level applicants

AAB @ A2 for L370 BSc Criminology.

ABB @ A2 for LM39 BScEcon Sociology & Criminology, XM39 BScEcon Education & Criminology, ML94 BScEcon Social Policy & Criminology.

ABB - BBB @ A2 for L301 BSc Social Science, X300 BA Education, L300 BScEcon Sociology.

BBB @ A2 for LL34 BScEcon Social Policy & Sociology, LX33 BScEcon Sociology & Education, XL34 BScEcon Social Policy & Education.

Please note that we have suspended entry to L402 BScEcon Social Policy for 2013.

Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma

A pass in the Welsh Baccalaureate is normally accepted in lieu of one A-level with Grade B (100 points).

Scottish Advanced Higher

AAB-BBB (dependent on degree scheme)

Irish Leaving Certificate

A1,A1,B1,B1,B2,B2 to A2,B1,B2,B2,B3,B3 (dependent on degree scheme)

European Baccalaureate

75-80%, depending on degree scheme.

International Baccalaureate

32-34, depending on degree scheme.

BTEC National Diploma

DDM-DDD depending on degree scheme. Applicants must demonstrate the relevance of the diploma to the degree subject they want to study.

CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education

Applicants studying for this qualification who indicate strong academic potential will be considered on an individual basis. Applicants must demonstrate the relevance of the diploma to the degree subject they want to study. A typical offer for this qualification would be AA+B (practical).

English Language Qualifications

In the case of applicants whose first language is not English, competence in the English language is also a criterion of admission.

Access to HE Diploma

The School welcomes applications from the students studying the Access to HE Diploma, providing there is suitable continuity between the Access subject and the chosen degree programme. Offers will ask for a specific number of level 3 credits awarded a distinction, and may specify the particular units in which these distinctions must be attained.

Resit Candidates

Applications from candidates who are resitting their entry qualifications will be considered on a case by case basis.
