This information will assist applicants in assessing whether they have the skills, attributes and qualifications which Cardiff School of Planning and Geography has identified as being important if students are to succeed on its undergraduate programmes of study. It also summarises the process which the School uses for selecting students and making offers, so that applicants understand how the School considers their applications.

The School of Planning and Geography is a world-leading centre of excellence in research, teaching and policy and practice, associated with Planning and Human Geography. Each year the School receives around 400 applications for approximately 70 places and competition for entry is high.

University Open Days are held in September and April each year and provide the opportunity to visit all academic schools in addition to the residences, the Students’ Union and sports facilities. Please see our Open Day webpage for further details.
The School of Planning and Geography holds Open Days between November and March. All potential applicants may attend where they will be able to see the school facilities, as well as meet students and staff. Please see the School Open Day webpage for further details.
Year 12 students taking Geography A-level may also be interested in attending the Schools' annual A-level away day, where Geography students from across the UK have an opportunity to visit the School and hear about the latest developments in Geography, whilst also finding out about the courses on offer.
