The A-level entry requirements for our 3-and 4- year single honours BSc degrees is AAB. The A-level entry requirements for our 4-year MMath degree is AAA. Students studying the Welsh Baccalaureate will also receive an alternative offer of AA at A-level plus a pass in the Welsh Baccalaureate. For all degrees a minimum grade A in A-level Mathematics is required. You are not required to have studied Further Mathematics, nor does it matter which version of Mathematics A-level you have taken, as long as it contains the core material in Pure Mathematics. A-levels in General Studies and Critical Thinking cannot be counted towards the offer. A minimum C grade in GCSE English or equivalent is also normally required.
The corresponding IB offer is 34 points overall with at least 6 in Higher Level Mathematics. We also welcome applications from students from overseas and from students who have equivalent qualifications, such as BTEC, GNVQ, ACCESS, etc. Applicants with such qualifications should contact the admissions tutors, Dr Jonathan Thompson or Mrs Vicky Reynish, for more information.

In the case of applicants whose first language is not English, competence in the English language is also a criterion of admission.

There are no specific additional requirements for admission.
Cardiff School of Mathematics accepts applications from resit candidates and the same selection criteria will be applied.
