Entry Requirements

LLB Law degree (M100)

A Level Typical Offer

AAB - AAA or ABBB - AABB at A2 level. There are no specific subjects required, however your profile at A-level must include a minimum of 2 traditional academic subjects. Please see Cardiff Law School's website for more information. We do not accept General Studies. We also require a GCSE pass in English (grade C or above).

Alternative Qualifications
  • International Baccalaureate: 34 points, including 6,6,5 at higher level
  • European Baccalaureate: 85%
  • Welsh Baccalaureate: Advanced Diploma with a Pass in the Core and grades AB at A-level OR AAB at A-level.
  • Scottish Advanced Highers: AAA
  • Scottish Highers: Considered in conjunction with Advanced Highers
  • Irish Highers: AAAAA
  • ACCESS courses: Considered individually
  • Vocational A-levels: Acceptable in combination with A-level

LLB Law & Criminology Degree (M190)

ABB at A2 level - an 'A' grade in A level French is required. However, your profile at A-level must include a minimum of 2 traditional academic subjects.   • European Baccalaureate: 78%
  • Welsh Baccalaureate: Advanced Diploma with a Pass in the Core and grades AB at A-level, to include an A in French

  • Scottish Highers: Considered in conjunction with Advanced Highers
  • Irish Highers: AAABB
  • ACCESS courses: Considered individually

LLB Law and German (RM21)

A Level Typical Offer

ABB at A2 level. A 'B' grade in A level German is required. However, your profile at A-level must include a minimum of 2 traditional academic subjects. Please see Cardiff Law School's website for more information.We do not accept General Studies. We also require a GCSE pass in English (grade C or above).

  • International Baccalaureate: 32 points, including 6,5,5 at higher level (with 5 or better in German)
  • European Baccalaureate: 78%
  • Welsh Baccalaureate: Advanced Diploma with a Pass in the Core and grades BB at A-level including a B in German
  • Scottish Advanced Highers: ABB (including B in German)
  • Scottish Highers: Considered in conjunction with Advanced Highers
  • Irish Highers: AAABB including B in German
  • ACCESS courses: Considered individually
  • Vocational A-levels: Acceptable in combination with A-levels

LLB Law and Welsh (MQ15)

A Level Typical Offer

ABB at A2 level (including B in Welsh).

An A level in Welsh as a first language is normally required, though applicants whose Welsh is of an equivalent standard may also be considered. However, your profile at A-level must include a minimum of 2 traditional academic subjects. Please see Cardiff Law School's website for more information.We do not accept General Studies. English Language Qualifications

In the case of applicants whose first language is not English, competence in the English language is also a criterion of admission.

Additional Requirements for Admission

There are no specific additional requirements for admission. However, applicants considering a career in Law wishing to progress to either the Legal Practice Course or the Bar Professional Studies Course upon completion of their undergraduate studies are advised to familiarise themselves with the fitness to practise requirements of the relevant professional body to ensure that they would be eligible to register with the relevant body upon completion of training:
