Applications are considered from candidates offering a range of qualifications, the majority of applicants being A-level students. We expect a minimum of grade A in Chemistry for the MChem programme, with usually two other science subjects. For the BSc programme we also expect a minimum of grade B in Chemistry, supported by at least one other subject in science or mathematics.
Typical conditional offers will be AAB-ABB (340 - 320 points) for the MChem, and ABB/BBB (320 - 300 points) for the BSc, depending on subjects and other background.
A typical offer for applicants studying the International Baccalaureate qualification would be 32 points, with 6 in Chemistry at the higher level.
Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma with a pass in the core plus two GCE A-levels - an offer would be made depending on the combination of other subjects undertaken at A-Level.
Applications are welcomed from mature-age candidates and from those with non – A-level qualifications e.g ACCESS.
In the case of applicants whose first language is not English, competence in the English language is also a criterion of admission. More information is available on the English Language Requirements webpage.
There are no specific additional requirements for admission.
Resit candidates are considered but the minimum grades may be modified to reflect this, depending on circumstances.
