Entry Requirements - Biosciences

Minimum Entry Requirements

A summary of minimum entry requirements is outlined below, however for course specific information, please refer to the UCAS website.

GCSE English and Maths Grade C or above is required.

A-Level General Studies is not accepted.

A-levels

Entry requirements range from a minimum of three A-levels: AAB- ABB including Biology, Chemistry and preferably Maths.

Welsh Baccalaureate Core

Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma with a pass in the Core and grades AA in 2 GCE A-level science subjects (please refer to UCAS for programme specific criteria).

European Baccalaureate

Overall score of 75%, to include a minimum of 75% in Chemistry and Biology.

International Baccalaureate

Total score of 34 points or above with a minimum of 6 points in higher level Biology and/or Chemistry (please refer to UCAS for programme specific criteria).

BTEC National Diploma (not including Early Years)

Minimum of 360 points usually in Diploma in Science.

Access to HE

Pass in an approved Access to Science course together with a satisfactory supporting reference.

Other qualifications are also accepted. Please refer to the School of Biosciences website for further details.

Additional Requirements for Admission

There are no specific additional requirements for admission.

Resit Candidates

Candidates with subjects to resit will have their applications considered without additional conditions attached. Previous achievements (different from the subject(s) to be repeated) will be taken into consideration alongside qualifications to be attempted.
