University Graduate College: Enhancing the experience of Postgraduate Researchers
The MD is a doctoral research degree undertaken by medical graduates.
It is usually laboratory-based though it will focus on a specific clinical research topic.
If you are a practising local clinician you may undertake a part-time MD to work on a research question that arises from or is part of your clinical duties and interests.
All of our MD students are supported by a supervisory team and have access to specialist research skills training.
An MD project is of a narrower scope than PhD study but is of comparable depth and the work should also make an original contribution to medical knowledge.
The School of Medicine and the School of Biosciences offers a number of opportunities for MD Degrees.
