Cardiff University has been welcoming Indonesian students for many years and each year we welcome many more new students. We currently have 13 Indonesian students at Cardiff University, studying diverse subjects such as: Journalism, Media & Cultural Studies, Optometry, Banking & Finance, Computing, International Economics and PhD degrees in Journalism.

Foundation courses

If you have studied the STTB-SMA you will need at least 7 out of 10 over all with at least 7 in key subjects.

IETLS: 5.5 (minimum subscores: 4.0 in all areas)
iBT: 68 (Minimum subscores: Reading 04, Writing 13, Speaking 16, Listening 09)

IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each sub-score).
iBT 78 (Reading 18, Writing 17, Speaking 20, Listening 17)

Optometry, Psychology, Pharmacy
IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 4.0 in each sub-score).
iBT 78 (Reading 18, Writing 17, Speaking 20, Listening 17)

Undergraduate courses

If you have studied the STTB-SMA you will need at least 7 out of 10 overall in addition to a recognised one year foundation programme.

Cardiff University will also consider successful completion of year one of a relevant four year honours degree at a recognised institution in Indonesia.

Postgraduate taught courses

You will be required to have a GPA of at least 3 in the Sarjana I to qualify for Cardiff University's Postgraduate taught programmes.

Postgraduate research programmes

You will normally be required to have a GPA of at least 3 in the Sarjana II to qualify for Cardiff University's Postgraduate Research programmes.

Some courses may accept you with Sarjan I if in a relevant subject area and with a good GPA.

English language

A relevant English language qualification is also required — normally a minimum of 6.5 IELTS or TOEFL 575 (230 CBT), however, this may vary from course to course.

Cardiff University is proud is be a partner university of The Indonesia-UK DIKTI Scholarship Programme. This Programme is open for lecturers at Indonesian universities and administrative staff at DIKTI and Indonesian state universities, to undertake postgraduate study at many leading universities and higher education institutions in the United Kingdom. All academic subjects are eligible for funding under the DIKTI programme.

The scheme is open to permanent and prospective faculty members at Indonesian universities and administrative staff in DIKTI or Indonesian state universities. For more information, click here.

In order to apply for the scholarship, you need apply directly to Cardiff University, through our normal application process. Often you will need to submit a detailed research proposal and provide academic references. Please inform us that you are a DIKTI scholar.
