Do I need to register with the Police?

If you are from one of the following countries you will need to register with the Police within 7 days of your arrival in the UK:

If you need to register with the Police it will state this on the visa page of your passport.

The immigration rules state that a condition of your entry and stay in the UK is this registration process, so it is essential that you do so as soon as possible.

If your husband, wife or child entered the UK as your dependant, they will also have to register with the police within 7 days of their arrival in the UK.

This is the 1st time that I have registered with the Police - what documents do I need to prepare and bring with me?

To register with the police you will need:

• your passport
• two passport-sized photographs
• proof that you are a student; your Student ID card
• registration fee of £34 (if you are a student sponsored by the British Council you will have this fee-refunded)
• a completed police registration questionnaire, provided for you by Cardiff University, see below:

Please come to your appointment with all the above items. If you don’t have all the documents the police cannot issue a Registration certificate.
