The 2 week Induction and Freshers’ Programme consists of a range of social events as well as other important enrolment and financial tasks that you need to do when you first arrive and before your studies begin. All these events are designed to give you the best possible start and aimed at helping you settle as easily as possible into your new life in Cardiff. The programme of events include parties, welcome talks, an information, sports and societies fairs, quizzes, tours of the University campus and the city as well as all the administrative tasks of enrolment, opening a bank account and police registration.
All international student events are free, except the international student party, (tickets £5), taking place on Friday 19 September. To attend any of the Freshers’ social events in the Students Union, you will need to buy a Freshers’ wrist band. For more information on where to buy the freshers’ wrist band, how much it costs and what it includes see: http://www.cardiffstudents.com/ents/event/912/
We recommended that you plan to attend as many events as possible. Studies show that international students that participate in induction events settle better into their new lifestyle in the UK.
