Cardiff is a compact city so you will find that you will be able to walk or cycle to many places. The Students’ Union, student residences and city centre are within a short walk of one another. There is also a regular bus service around the city.
There are lots of bike shops in Cardiff which sell new and second hand bikes. The following websites show the location of some of these shops and the types of bikes they have for sale:
Alternatively, you can find a second hand bike in the free ads newspaper, which you can buy at any newsagent or see www.friday-ad.co.uk or look on the website Gumtree: www.gumtree.com/cardiff
Yes, you must get a sturdy lock for your bicycle, otherwise it is likely to get stolen! These can be bought from University Security, opposite number 51 Park Place (map ref. 35) at a discounted price of £17.50 (normally they cost £30). University Security sells D-cycle locks recommended by the police as the best way to keep your bike safe.
